The Pathologists Quality Registry has been approved as a 2018 Qualified Clinical Data Registry (QCDR) by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for the second consecutive year, solidifying the tool as an instrumental component for pathologists in fulfilling reporting requirements under Medicare’s Quality Payment Program (QPP) Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS). Developed by pathologists for pathologists, the Pathologists Quality Registry offers additional pathology-specific quality measures and attestation for improvement activities, helping pathologists demonstrate quality care while maximizing Medicare payment bonus potential.

The College of American Pathologists (CAP) today issued the following statement from CAP President R. Bruce Williams, MD, FCAP, after the American Clinical Laboratory Association (ACLA) filed a lawsuit alleging the agency overseeing the Medicare program did not follow the Protecting Access to Medicare Act (PAMA) of 2014 when implementing market-based payment reforms to clinical laboratory services.

The College of American Pathologists (CAP) released 52 updated CAP Cancer Protocols, clinical guidelines for reporting pathologic features in the treatment of cancer patients, on June 30, 2017. The revised protocols now incorporate changes to tumor stage classification from the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) 8th Edition Cancer Staging Manual.

The CAP Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), is expanding its flagship "See, Test & Treat®" cancer screening program in the state of Texas. Supported by a grant from CVS Health, the Foundation is holding three See, Test & Treat programs in the Houston area in October, providing life-saving mammograms and Pap tests with same-day results and follow-up care along with other community tailored health services for uninsured women.
