NORTHFIELD, ILL. — With the new book Medical Kidney Diseases: Morphology-Based Novel Approach to Renal Biopsy, the College of American Pathologists (CAP) delivers a quick, simple way for general pathologists and nephrologists to reference and learn key diagnostic features across a range of medical renal diseases.
Taking a uniquely morphologic based approach to renal biopsy, the 92-page book features more than 245 photomicrographs, exhibits, and tables that combine for a highly visual guide to aid differential diagnoses. The book was developed to meet the needs of practicing pathologists while also guiding nephrology fellows and pathology residents as they prepare for boards.
“Kidney disease diagnoses are high stakes, and pathologists are making often urgent, life-saving decisions,” explains the author, Huma Fatima, MD, assistant professor and director, renal pathology, University of Alabama at Birmingham. “By providing a pertinent differential diagnosis related to various patterns of injuries, this book can bolster confidence among nephrologists and pathologists making those critical decisions.”
Medical Kidney Diseases: Morphology-Based Novel Approach to Renal Biopsy is organized in four sections—glomerular, vascular, tubulointerstitial, and transplant renal pathology—each featuring subsections based on the particular pattern of injury by light microscopy. It is available in softcover or ebook formats. See sample pages and more detail to order online at estore.cap.org or call 1-800-323-4040, option 1. Reference PUB129. Price is $68 for CAP members; $85 for others. ($64 for ebook at ebooks.cap.org).
