CAP Collaborates to Advance Medical Learning
Northfield, IL — Making it easier for pathologists to keep pace with changing medical practice and maintain board certification, the College of American Pathologists’ (CAP) portfolio of continuing medical education (CME) courses is now available through CME Finder, a resource of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).
The ACCME’s searchable database for physicians, CME Finder also includes easily identified details direct links to the CAP’s deep array of Self-Assessment Modules (SAM) and Part IV activities. Uniquely, CAP CME and SAM courses are developed by pathologists, for pathologists, with a focus on practicality and relevance. A comprehensive portfolio, CAP education offers a variety of educational formats, as well as deep dives into areas such as breast pathology, laboratory medical direction, and hematopathology.
“The CAP’s collaboration with the ACCME is part of our broader effort to simplify CME reporting for pathologists maintaining board certification through the American Board of Pathology (ABP),” explains Jennifer L. Hunt, MD, MEd, FCAP, chair of the CAP’s Council on Education.
With member’s consent, the CAP later this year will begin transmitting CAP-provided CME, SAM, and other improvement activity credits automatically to the ABP. As the CAP CME and SAM credits automatically populate in the diplomate’s ABP’s PATHway reporting record, the CAP further helps reduce the record-keeping burden for its members.
