- Notification to College of American Pathologists (CAP) Accredited Histocompatibility Laboratories and Inspectors
The CAP recently released a new Fast Focus on Compliance (FFOC) mini-training module to update histocompatibility laboratory personnel and inspectors on changes to the 2016 edition of the Histocompatibility checklist.
Why is this information important?
- It impacts the inspection of laboratories that are members of the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS).
- The checklist changes align with the March 1, 2016, Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) bylaws for membership of histocompatibility laboratories.
- The changes include human leukocyte antigen (HLA) testing, written agreements with transplant programs, laboratory and coverage, and continuing education hours.
- CAP-accredited laboratories that are members of UNOS must be in compliance with these changes.
